UAV Testing at King Mongkut’s University of Technology

Our distributor in Thailand, iCreativesystems Co.,Ltd, delivered a Series 1780 thrust stand to King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok last month. The thrust stand was part of a bundle of equipment that the researchers will be using to test various drones and UAV sub-systems.

The research team focuses on autonomous UAV performance for educational purposes. They will use the Series 1780 to test the motors and propellers of several new drones they have acquired, including the Viverlin VL340, the MX1000, and the B.viz.

They will be using and testing several sub-systems including LiDAR-based SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), Handheld LiDAR for 3D Point Cloud, and flight planning software.

In addition to their equipment, they have also built an impressive safety cage where they will perform electric propulsion tests with the Series 1780. The cage is key for protecting the user in case a propeller breaks.

The predecessor to the King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok,North Bangkok Technical School,was founded in 1959. In 1986, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology separated into three autonomous universities and the North Bangkok campus became King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok. 

The university has partner institutions in Germany, France, Malaysia and Japan, and is known for its engineering and applied sciences programs.
